File Library

Notes on the farm files that show up on a USB stick and won't open, import, or stay together.

File Library

Every display writes its own folder tree and binary quirks. Look up the exact file extension you're staring at to see what it stores, what opens it, and why it fails.

  • .dbf

    dBASE Attribute Table

Stores the actual product rates and paddock attributes behind a shapefile. Truncates column names at 10 characters and carries no unit metadata (L/ha vs kg/ha).

  • .cn1

Case IH / New Holland Data Folder

A structured folder, not a single file. Needs index.vy1 intact to read in desktop software, and having two .cn1 folders on one USB root blinds a Pro 700 display.

  • TASKDATA.XML & GRD00001.BIN

    ISOBUS ISO 11783-10

The universal cab format. Strictly requires uppercase DOS 8.3 filenames; spatial prescription grids live inside the separate binary .BIN file.

  • .ln3 / .tp3 vs .ini

    Topcon Guidance

.ln3 and .tp3 hold the actual 3D guidance trajectories and project geometry; .ini only stores steering and ECU configuration.

  • .jdl & RCD / Rx

    John Deere Gen 4 / G5

Prescriptions go in Rx, setup and boundaries live under RCD, and high-frequency 5 Hz machine telemetry logs to .jdl.
